1995
Doctor of medicine [MD] the University of Western Ontario.
2000
Completed Ophthalmology Residency University of Western Ontario to become fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
2001
Established ophthalmology practice, specializing in Cataract and Refractive surgery. Dr. Emara is one of the most experienced refractive surgeons in Ontario and Michigan. As Surgical Director at Emara Laser Eye Centers, formally known as Lasik Centers of America, Dr. Emara has performed over 20,000 refractive procedures including photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), astigmatic keratotomy (AK) and Custom LASIK with Intralase.
2004
Under his leadership as Ophthalmologist-in-Chief, Dr. Emara made significant advances in the Department of Ophthalmology at Windsor Regional Hospital and Hotel Dieu Grace Hospitals from 2004 – 2011.
2011
Dr. Emara received the "Patients Choice Award" from the Ontario Medical Association for exceptional patient care.
2017
Dr. Emara received the "Windsor Campus Award of Excellence in Medical Education" presented by Schulich Medicine in Windsor, Ontario.
2020
Dr. Emara received the "Clerkship Faculty Teaching Award" presented by Schulich Medicine in Windsor, Ontario.
2022
Dr. Emara completed all requirements to maintain his status as Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology (DABO) until 2032.
Co-founded Windsor Surgical Centre, the first out of hospital facility for publicly funded cataract surgery in Ontario .
2024
Dr. Emara was nominated as a finalist for "Professional of the Year" by the Windsor Chamber of Commerce for the 2024 Business Excellence Awards.
2025
Dr. Emara was awarded the Consumer Choice Award in the category of laser vision correction.
