Awards & Recognition

Dr. Barry Emara received his doctor of medicine from the university of Western Ontario in 1995. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Western Ontario to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons in June 2000. Dr. Emara is board certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology. In 2010, Dr. Emara completed all the requirements to maintain this designation for the next 10 years. 

Performing vision correction procedures since 2000.  Dr, Emara has become one of the most experienced refractive surgeons in Ontario and Michigan.  As Surgical Director at Emara Laser Eye Centers, formally known as Lasik Centers of America, Dr. Emara has performed over 10, 000 refractive procedures including PRK, standard and custom LASIK, Intralase, lensectomy and astigmatic keratotomy.  Dr. Emara also offers the phakic intraocular lens procedure with the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) to suitable candidates.

Dr. Emara has done extensive research on refractive procedures, has been invited to present at various conferences and published several articles on LASIK.  He is a member of such societies as American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive  Surgery and the Canadian Ophthalmological Society.

Dr. Emara became well known for his gentle

approach to his patients. In 2011, Dr. Emara

established cataract and glaucoma practice in

Ophthalmologist-in-Chief, Dr. Emara made

significant advances in the Department of Ophthalmology at Windsor Regional Hospital and Hotel Dieu Grace Hospitals from 2004 - 2011.
